Overview

The cohorts integration with Amplitude and Mixpanel are a great way to get product insights from specific cohorts that you’ve defined externally. With these integrations, your team can:

Surface trends from cohorts
Extract common feature requests, bug reports, and questions
Understand what specific groups of people are asking about

Supported Sources

Amplitude

You can find the Amplitude integration on your integration settings page under External Cohort Sources. A user with access to both Reforge Insights as well as Amplitude will need to authorize the connection.

Insights Analytics Setup

Go to “Settings”

Click “Integrations” in the navigation menu

Click “Amplitude”

Click “Connect Amplitude”

Copy the Insights Analytics API key. Once you navigate away from this page, the API key is no longer viewable.

Amplitude Setup

In Amplitude Data, click Catalog and select the Destinations tab.

In the Cohort section, click Insights Analytics

Enter a name and the Insights Analytics API key.

Map an Amplitude field to the Enterpret User ID field. This Amplitude field must be an email address field.

When finished, save the integration. After you save the integration, you can sync your first cohort.

Follow these steps to sync any of your Amplitude cohorts to your Insights Analyytics destination:

From the Cohorts page in Amplitude, click the cohort you want to send, or create a cohort
Click Sync
Select Insights Analytics, then click Next
From the Select an API target to sync to list, select your Insights Analytics destination
Set the sync cadence
Click Sync to start syncing

Mixpanel

You can find the Mixpanel integration on your integration settings page under External Cohort Sources. A user with access to both Reforge Insights as well as Mixpanel will need to authorize the connection.

Go to “Settings”

Click “Integrations” in the navigation menu

Click “Mixpanel”

Cick “Connect Mixpanel”

You’ll see a url, username and password. Once you navigate away from this page, these items are no longer viewable so note them somewhere.

Mixpanel Setup

In Mixpanel, click the Setting icon at the bottom-left of the srcreen and then Integrations.

Click the Custom Webhooks section in the Integrations pane.

In the setup modal, add a connector name and enter the url, username and password that you noted from step 5 above. Click continue.

Follow these steps to sync any of your Mixpanel cohorts to Insights Analyytics:

From the Cohorts page in Mixpanel, hover over the Export to… option from the dots menu of the cohort you want to sync and click on the connector name from step 3 above.
Select the export type - One-time export or Recurring sync and then click Begin Sync. Your sync will be queued.
To view the status of your sync at any time, click on the dots menu of the cohort again. After a sync has completed, if you reload the Insights Analytics Mixpanel integration page, you’ll see the synced cohort.
